Halton’s Twilight Walk

After last year’s success, the Halton Haven Hospice Twilight Walk is back as part of a full calendar of events. The Twilight Walk will help raise vital funds to allow your local Hospice to continue to deliver incredible, free of charge, end of life services to the community of Halton.

The 10km route starts at Victoria Park, Widnes at 3pm on Saturday 30th September, taking walkers through Kingsway, over the Jubilee Bridge to Ten lock Flight pub, Runcorn for refreshments and entertainment from Samba Mundo and then back, finishing at Victoria Park with a well-deserved, exclusive medal.

Tina Gill, Fundraising Manager at Halton Haven Hospice said “We always have fantastic support of our events. The Twilight walk is an absolute favourite! Have fun, celebrate a loved one and help raise funds for your local hospice.

Fancy dress for the event is optional but highly encouraged. Everyone taking part will receive a fabulous medal and there will be memory panels available to write who you are walking for and pin to your top.

Arrival by the Band Stand at Victoria Park, Widnes is from 2pm to sign in and take part in the warmup before the Twilight Walk starts at 3pm prompt. There will be Halton Haven T-shirts available to purchase and a glitter station to add some sparkle.

Individual entry cost is £10, under 16 years old £5 and children under 5 years old are free.

Registration is online https://HaltonHavenTwilightWalk2023.eventbrite.co.uk or at the hospice reception where payment by cash or card is accepted.

The hospice asks for support with each participant raising £50 in sponsorship.  The funds raised will help the hospice to continue providing specialist care to patients and families affected by life limiting illnesses across Halton.

Sponsorship can be set up online via Just Giving, sponsor forms are available at the hospice, Halton Haven Hospice shop, Queens Avenue, Widnes or can be sent out on request.

How can I register?

If I have already registered, what do I need to do on the day?

If you are registered, you will still need to sign in at the event, so we know who is taking part for safety reasons. There will be a sign in and new registrations area open from 2pm.

Once you have registered you will receive an email confirmation confirming your places purchased.

Why do I need to raise sponsorship and where does my money go?

Your registration fee is absorbed by the costs of running such a special event. Every pound of sponsorship goes towards supporting your local hospice to continue to provide specialist care and support to those living with terminal illness and their families in the local community.

How do I raise money for Halton Haven?

The simplest way of raising funds is via Just Giving online. Go to www.justgiving.com and follow the instructions choosing Halton Haven Hospice to start fundraising straight away.
Sponsor forms will be available at the hospice reception and the Halton Haven Shop, Queens Avenue, Widnes. If you are happy to receive a sponsor form by email to print, please let us know fundraising@haltonhaven.co.uk

Can I enter with a team?

Of course! If you are entering as a team, please call 01928 712728 to let us know. If you are raising sponsorship as a team, try setting up a Just Giving page – just make it clear you are taking part in the Twilight Walk.

Can I bring my children?

The Twilight Walk is a family event, we LOVE to see all the family take part! All children under 5 can enter the Twilight Walk free of charge but do need to be registered so we know numbers on the day for safety reasons

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, the walk may be busy with other dogs and people, and knowing your own dog, you should consider if this is an environment which they will enjoy. Please always keep your dog on a lead during the event.

What time do I need to arrive?

Please try to arrive in plenty of time for the 3pm start at Victoria Park. The sign in/new registration area will be open from 2pm. We would advise at least 30 minutes prior, to make sure you are all ready to go.
You may like to grab yourself a cuppa from Esposito’s Café before also.

Will there be refreshments available?

There will refreshments available to purchase prior at Esposito’s Café and there will also be water and snacks available for all participants at the halfway point at Ten Lock Flight pub kindly supplied by ASDA Runcorn.

What is included with registration?

All participants will receive an exclusive Twilight Walk medal. There will also be memorial panels available at the start area to write who you are walking in memory of to pin on your top. The refreshments supplied by ASDA Runcorn will be available free of charge at the halfway point at Ten Lock Flight pub.
 
Halton Haven Hospice T-shirts will be available to purchase on the day at the start area, £7 for adults and £5 for children. Please let us know if you would like to purchase prior to the event.

What should I do if I have a query on the day of the event?

Please find our information point and ask one of our Twilight Walk team, hopefully they will be able to help. Please note, any child lost on the day will be taken to this point and will be looked after by our team.
There will be a lost child point at both start and halfway areas.

Can my family and friends come and watch?

Absolutely, the more the merrier around the finish to cheer our Twilight Walkers over the finish line!
