How we are Funded

Each year the costs of running the Hospice increases.  Last year it cost £2.4 million to deliver our services.  Many people are surprised to know that we are a charity and that our care is not part of the NHS.

We are not part of the NHS, although we do receive some funding from them, we are a registered charity. Our running costs are £6,370 a day, and each year we must raise £1.25 million of funding from our community through donations, fundraising events, our weekly lottery, and legacies left by supporters in their wills.

It’s amazing to think that seven out of every 12 patients are cared for by community donations. Without this we wouldn’t be here to care for those who need us.

The Hospice is an old building and it needs on-going maintenance and repair.  These costs are additional to the day-to-day running costs. The challenges are relentless and our fundraising never stops.  We couldn’t do it without our community or our volunteers.
