Event Overview

The Halton Haven Hospice Santa Dash is back. It’s a tradition!

Join TEAM SANTA dashing over the iconic Silver Jubilee Bridge this Christmas.

Sign up this Christmas, along with hundreds of Santa’s, to take part in the 3km sponsored fun run from West Bank Boat Club Café, Spike Island in Widnes to the finish by Costa in Runcorn on Sunday 15th December at 10am.

We encourage Santa’s to arrive from 9am to sign in and enjoy the pre-Dash entertainment.  The Silver Jubilee Bridge will be closed to allow the Santa’s to run across the centre of the bridge.

All the money raised will go directly to Halton Haven Hospice allowing them to continue to provide specialist end of life care and support to patients and their families.

The Santa Dash entry fee is £20 for adults, £10 for children (up to 16 years old), under 5’s are free (no Santa suit provided), dogs £2 and a family ticket is £50.

Santa suits can be collected on the morning of the event at the start area or prior to the event from 1st November from Halton Haven Hospice Reception Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm or from Hankins Old Fashioned Sweets Shop, Widnes Market.

The registration cost includes a Santa suit, a medal on completion and a mince pie. Under 5’s are encouraged to come along in their own fancy dress.

Can anyone take part in the Santa Dash?

Yes, the Santa Dash is a fun run. It is open to everyone and children under the age of 5 can take part for free.

What is included with the registration fee?

Registration includes a Santa Suit and festive medal on completion.

How can I register?

The simplest way is online at Enthuse https://register.enthuse.com/ps/event/HaltonHavenHospiceSantaDash or you can collect a registration form from the hospice reception or our Halton Haven shop on Queens Avenue in Widnes, WA8 0DE.

If I have already registered, what do I need to do on the day?

If you are registered, you will still need to sign in on the morning of the event so we know who is taking part for safety reasons. There will be a sign in and new registrations area.

What happens once I’ve registered?

Once you have registered you will receive an email confirmation as receipt for booking a place(s) for the Halton Haven Hospice Santa Dash 2024. You will automatically have an online fundraising page created for you by Enthuse who will send you the link to share. Sponsor forms are available at the hospice or our shop on Queens Avenue, Widnes. If you require anything via email or post, please let us know.  

How and where do I get my Santa Suit from?

Suits will be available to collect on the day of the event.

Santa suits will be available to collect prior to the event from 1st November.

Collection points prior are from Halton Haven Hospice Reception Mon-Friday 9am-4pm. (Please note collection times are subject to change or cancellation due to visiting restrictions at the Hospice) and from Hankin’s Old Fashioned Sweets shop in Widnes Market.

You will need to bring along your confirmation for each person you are collecting a suit for.

Why do I need to raise sponsorship and where does my money go?

Your registration fee is absorbed by the costs of running such a special event. These vary from buying the Santa suits to closing the roads. Every pound of sponsorship goes towards supporting your local hospice to continue to provide specialist care and support to those living with terminal illness and their families in the local community.

Can I enter with a team?

Of course! If you are entering as a team, please add this when you are registering online. You can create a team or join one.

Can I bring my children?

The Santa Dash is a family event, we LOVE to see all the family take part! We have a limited range of child size Santa suits available so please enquire as soon as possible after registering to get hold of the right size. All children under 5 can enter the Dash free of charge but do need to be registered so we know for numbers on the day.

No suit is included for under 5’s but we do encourage fancy dress!

What time do I need to arrive for the Dash?

Please try to arrive in plenty of time for the 10am start at West Bank Boat Club Café, Spike Island, Widnes. The sign in/new registration area will be open from 9am. We would advise you arrive by 9.30am at the latest to make sure you take part in the warm up and are ready to go.

You may like to grab yourself a cuppa from the Café before also.

Will there be parking available for me on the day?

We have no designated parking for participants on the day.

Anthony’s Travel have kindly offered to transport participants from the finish area back to the start.

Will there be refreshments available?

There will refreshments available to purchase at West Bank Boat Club Café at the starting area and there will also be water available for all participants at the end of the Dash. All Santa’s are welcome to a complimentary mince pie! Costa Coffee will be open by the finish line and Ten Lock Flight pub opens at 12 midday.

Is there anywhere where I can get changed?

No, unfortunately there are no changing facilities at the start of the event. Please make sure you are suitably dressed for the dash and please make sure you take the weather into account when getting ready on the morning.

What should I do if I have a query on the day of the event?

Please come and find our information point and ask one of our Santa Dash Team, hopefully they will be able to help. Please note, any child lost on the day will be taken to this point and will be looked after by our team.

There will be a lost child point at both start and finish areas.

Can my family and friends come and watch?

Absolutely, the more the merrier around the finish line to cheer our Santa’s over the finish line!!
