Pandora brings Christmas spirit to Greenoaks Shopping Centre

Visitors to Greenoaks in Widnes have in the past week have almost certainly noticed the huge Christmas tree that dominates the indoor shopping centre.

The tree is the brainchild of the popular Pandora store in Greenoaks, and its purpose is to spread the Christmas spirit to shoppers whilst raising vital funds for their local hospice, Halton Haven.

Michael Aldridge, CEO of Duncan Sexton Ltd, the company behind Pandora Widnes and Pandora St Helens, is clear on the motiviation behind putting up the huge tree. “As we have now completed our first full year in Greenoaks, we wanted to celebrate by bringing something a bit different to the centre over the Christmas period. The Christmas tree in the centre is always a beautiful addition at this time of year and a real focal point, and it happens to be right outside our Pandora store! We thought it would be fun to sponsor the tree by decorating it with Pandora baubles, and running some in store promotions over the festive period.

“This then also gives us the opportunity to raise some money for a great local cause – Halton Haven Hospice. This is such a wonderful charity and I hope we can raise some much needed funds for them over the next few weeks. Our staff are ready to get into the Christmas spirit and hopefully our customers are too!”

The tree will remain in place throughout the full Christmas period with bucket collections taking place for Halton Haven on each weekend in December.

Chris Andrews, Community Fundraising Manager at Halton Haven Hospice, was keen to explain what the fundraising initiative means to the hospice. “We are very grateful to Michael and all at Pandora for this wonderful fundraising idea! It’s a fantastic sight as you enter Greenoaks and I’m sure it’ll raise a great amount for patient care here at the Hospice. We rely hugely on local people, businesses and communities to support us throughout the year and ensure we can cover the costs of running the Hospice. Without the people of Halton who donate, raise funds and leave gifts in wills, the Hospice wouldn’t be here and this vital palliative care service wouldn’t exist. Thank you so much to Pandora and everyone who contributes to the collections this Christmas.”
