On Monday 27th March, members of Soroptimist International Runcorn, Frodsham & District presented Halton Haven Hospice with a cheque for £3,100. The money was raised by holding a Ladies Lunch at Runcorn Golf Club, a coffee morning, and a stall at Frodsham Festival.
Soroptimists work together to raise much-needed funds for local, national and international charities.
Chris Andrews, Community Fundraising Manager at Halton Haven Hospice, said, “The Soroptimists do a huge amount across the world and make a real difference to so many lives, supporting local, national and international causes. We are honoured to be one of the Runcorn, Frodsham and District group’s chosen local causes this year. This donations means a great deal to us and is essential in allowing us to continue caring for the people of Halton and surrounding areas who need us.”
Halton Haven provides specialist palliative care to local people who are living with end of life conditions, and care and support to their family members. Patients come from Runcorn, Widnes, Frodsham and other areas around Halton, and all of our services are offered completely free of charge.
Each year it costs approximately £2.5 million to keep the Hospice open. Only half of this money comes from statutory sources, leaving a shortfall of approximately £1.25 million which the Hospice must find each year. It is only thanks to the support of local people and organisations that the Hospice is able to raise this money and continue offering their services to our local community.
