How do I pay?

Most people prefer to pay by monthly standing order mandate. This is easy to set up and means that you will never miss a draw , as your lottery money will be collected straight from your bank account each month. You can also choose whether you prefer your payments to go out on such a day of each month when you sign up.

Alternatively, you can set up a standing order to pay annually, if you prefer to pay larger instalments in advance.

Signing up by standing order is also better for Halton Haven Hospice as it means we can see clearly how much money we are expecting to receive from our supporters each month, and so can plan our services with confidence.

If you prefer not to set up a standing order, you can also pay for a fixed period in advance by cheque made payable to Halton haven hospice. If you wish to pay by standing order or cheque, you will need to complete our paper sign up form e.g. £52 for one lottery number for one year. You will automatically receive a reminder when your credit is due to run out, to remind you to make a further payment, so that you don’t miss out on future draws.

Can I sign up on behalf of someone else?

In order to comply with Gambling Commission regulations and prevent problem and underage gambling, we always ask that lottery members complete their own details in order to sign up to our lottery.

However, what you do with your winnings is entirely up to you, so if you wanted to assign a second number to your partner, for example, and that number won, you are free to give your winnings to them. However, we will still maintain contact with you as the lottery member on our database.

Alternatively, you can soon be able to purchase lottery gift cards for loved ones, providing they are over the age of sixteen years old. This means that, in effect, you are paying for someone else’s membership – but they will still need to provide their own details to us to activate this gift card.

can we play through work e.g Payroll giving?

Yes! If your company already offers Payroll Giving, please let your payroll department know that you would like to set up a regular payment to Halton Haven Hospice for your lottery entry fee (e.g. £4.34 per month).

If your company doesn’t offer payroll giving, then you could encourage the payroll department to consider setting it up. All they have to do is sign up with an approved Payroll Giving Agency. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) lists approved agencies on its website . Then once the payroll system is set up for Payroll Giving, they can offer the scheme to all employees.
